How to Prepare for Your First Appointment

Detox

To get the most out of your session, you will want to start washing your hair at least once per week in the weeks leading up to your appointment (if you’re not already). This will help you to get the most out of your appointment.

Hydrate

A good shampoo lays the foundation for your curl care routine and any good hairstyle! It is the most important part of caring for your hair. If you are not yet using a shampoo regularly, you can start with this one.

Detangle

Now your hair is clean, you want to ensure you detangle thoroughly to remove shed hair, with a rich and expansive conditioner like this one. Use it with plenty of water to smooth it through with your fingers. Then use a brush or comb.

Style

Don’t over think it! Moisturise and style how you are most comfortable until your appointment. Ideally this will be your natural hair with no added hair. If you arrive with your curls defined as you normally would, I can give more feedback.

Please note: You do not have to avoid using products with oil or butter in them. Just please do not put pure coconut oil or shea buttter directly on your hair, for example. You also do not have to wash your hair in preparation for every appointment. You also do not have to arrive product free. Follow these guidelines for your first appointment and then stick to your personalised routine thereafter.

  • Dry, so we can shape with your natural pattern, spring, and shrinkage in mind.

  • Yes. While I do not use the curl typing system, I understand that it can be a useful tool for you to navigate your own haircare.

    I am one of three people in the UK at mastery level when it comes to: hydrating and defining tight curls; cutting and shaping them without needing to straighten them, and still prioritising hair health.

  • Yes. You are welcome to book an appointment for your child if they are able to sit for the duration of appointment. Please include their age in the intake form. All my appointments are standard prices regardless of age.

  • Yes. CurlyGalChlo Salon is a private space. If you notify me in your intake form, I will ensure the windows are covered ahead of your appointment.

  • No. Please attend your appointment alone unless you are assisting or accompanying a child. Any other guests will be asked to sit outside of the salon suite for the duration of the appointment.

  • No. Due to the nature of our coaching, our services are available by appointment only.

  • For curly cut appointments, please arrive with your hair CLEAN, DETANGLED, and styled DOWN in your natural curl pattern where possible.

    This means that you will have shampooed your hair within a week of your appointment and that it will be free of excessive tangling or matting.

    You are welcome to use light styling products to style your hair but these must not be hair oils or shea butter.

    If you are not able to wear your hair down, you are welcome to style your hair in two-strand twists. These will need to be taken down ahead of your appointment.

    Please avoid any buns, clips, hair ties etc.

  • You can reschedule your appointment up to 48 hours in advance of its start time and your booking fee will be transferred over to your future booking.

    Your booking fee is non-transferable if you reschedule within 48 hours of your appointment and non-refundable if you cancel your appointment.

  • A £50 non-refundable booking fee is due in order to secure your appointment. You are able to reschedule your appointment up to 48 hours in advance within 4 weeks of the original appointment, and up to a maximum of 2 occasions. Booking fees for cancelled appointments will not be refunded.

  • Yes, without exception and at least 48 hours before any colour appointment.

  • Contact us at hello@curlygalchlo.com or +447946754799 at as soon as possible. Late appointments that can go ahead will incur a late fee of £15. Otherwise, you will need to book a new appointment.

    If you are more than 10 mins late and do not get in contact, you will be classed as a No Show. Your appointment will be cancelled, and you will not be permitted to book future appointments.

  • To ensure security and privacy, access instructions are provided via email 24 hours prior to your appointment.
